This study reviewed patient decision aids (PDAs) developed for individuals with psoriasis, aiming to identify and analyze existing tools that support shared decision-making.
A structured search of PubMed and grey literature yielded six relevant tools, primarily from Canada, the Netherlands, and the UK. Half were web-based, and only three met full PDA criteria, including evidence-based content, value clarification, and facilitation of shared decisions.
The remaining tools lacked one or more key components. Usability testing was reported in three cases. Target populations varied by disease severity and comorbid conditions, with treatment comparisons ranging from broad categories to specific medications. Some tools included visual aids and sections for capturing patient preferences. Notably, no validated PDA was found for Spanish-speaking patients, highlighting the need for a culturally adapted and accessible tool for this underserved population.
